Frederick Urrey, Tenor, is an internationally recognized artist who appears in oratorio, opera and recital throughout the United States, Europe, and in Canada and Asia, receiving praise for his performance of a wide range of styles from diverse musical periods. He is an active performer of the works of J.S. Bach with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, the Washington Bach Consort, the Carmel, Oregon, Baldwin-Wallace and New England Bach Festivals, the Marlboro Music Festival and Les Violons du Roy of Quebec.
Current and recent engagements include the Mozart/Handel Messiah with the National Symphony under the direction of Christopher Hogwood at the Kennedy Center, Handel’s
Messiah with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Academy of Music, the Handel & Haydyn Society in Boston’s Symphony Hall, and with Musica Sacra in Carnegie Hall, Handel’s
L’Allegro at the Th?tre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Bach’s
St. Matthew Passion with the Japan Shinsei Symphony in Tokyo, Bach’s
Magnificat with The Bach Choir of London and David Willcocks at Lincoln Center and Beethoven’s
Ninth Symphony with the London Classical Players under the direction of Roger Norrington for a BBC television production, with the San Francisco Symphony in Davies Hall, and with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in Carnegie Hall. Mr. Urrey has recorded for RCA/BMG, Harmonia Mundi, Telefunken-Decca, Newport Classic, Vox Classic, Koch International and Albany labels, and for the Dorian label with The Bach Choir of Bethlehem.
